SCANNER RECAP March 25, 2023

Severe Weather and Erratic Drivers dominate the headlines during surprise Spring Storm.

Remember, scanner traffic is not news until confirmed, and eye witness accounts are often unreliable.

The day started with a warning from one of our admins; “Weather is going to get rough. Please be safe out there.”

Another Admin wrote, “Winter weather advisory calling for 3 to 7 inches of snow.”

Snowing hard in Scottsbluff, winds directly out of the West, snowing sideways…

Semi slid off the road near Angora.

We also heard several medical calls throughout the day, including a Code Blue.

Another reported break-in on South Beltline at a familiar storage facility. The name came over the scanner, but the last time they called very upset that we would report it.

Gray Jeep headed toward Morrill almost hit someone head on.

Navy Blue pickup and suv car accident.

The interstate is playing havoc. Some parts are closing down. So far, from Big Springs to the Wyoming state line.

Lightpole down.

Rollover on I-80 at exit 95 earlier.

10-44 earlier, exchanged info and one drove off… but we’ll leave that grey Honda in the ditch for now, due to high call volume.

Per Adam Frerichs, I-80 both ways is shutting down at 2:45. From Big Springs to Wyoming.

Can’t contact trooper 255 state patrol. Last known on 385. Sending another state patrol and Alliance PD… He is speaking with the female in the mini van that was having an argument with her son. Son texted his father and said he was going to jump out of the vehicle. They finally have visual on 255. He appears 10-4.

Trucks stuck at exit 111. Sending heavy wreckers to start cleaning up the mess.

Troopers having to drive in median to help clean up I-80.

Finally got the lightpole out of driving lane.

Gering rescue paged to Northfield Apts, 73 year old female keeps collapsing and lathgeric.

Aggressive semi pushing people off the road…The semi is on Hwy 20 westbound, I think they said heading west out of Chadron.

Car died almost on the tracks on Broadway. Multiple people helping and then the officer showed up.

Good samaritan’s and police help a stranded motorist off the tracks at Broadway in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Saturday night.

Black Ford Escape, 27th st, no lights, driving erratically and high rate of speed

Highway 138 going into julesburg from nebraska is really bad as well

Injury Accident Route 138 Rd 11 White Escalade. NSP on scene.

Suspicious white van sitting with its doors open on L Street.

Female passenger in back seat spit on fast food drive-through attendant. Police have plates and description and will be on the lookout for this SD vehicle.

Grey hatchback cruising 27th Street egging people?

Did we just have a 10-45 (injury accident) on Hwy 2? Spanish speaking only, I believe.

1964 Ford Fairlane? Not sure how that old fella came across the scanner … How many 64 Fairlanes are around?

PUBLIC MEETING Monday, April 3, 2023

April 3rd Monday 7-9pm

Anyone interested in learning more or joining the team is invited to an informational and organizational meeting on April 3rd in Scottsbluff.

The Conference Room is Reserved for us at The Hampton Inn Monday night 7-9 pm.  It’s a room for 100 and will fill up fast!

We will open with a prayer, then a video presentation, and introductions after that. Several of you will be invited to sit on a panel to answer questions pertaining to your area of expertise and experience. We will be contacting you with details if chosen.
