  • Attended “8 to Great” Training.
  • Met with City Manager and Lynn Placek about upcoming funding changes at the airport. APD is committed to providing the same level of service to the airport regardless of TSA funding.
  • Attended the IT advisory board meeting.
  • Bytes upgraded multiple outdated computers at APD.
  • Completed supervisor training on Employee Drug Testing.
  • Attended Walk at Lunch Day.
  • Met with our VIP coordinator about increasing VIP involvement in our events and activities.
  • Met with our Volunteer Chaplain coordinator about how we can partner to reach those in the community who may be in need of services.
  • Finalized the Operations Budget submission for APD.
  • Met with Chief Shoemaker about radio upgrades and began the discussion with Motorola. Current radios are business grade and do not meet public safety security standards.
  • Celebrated our administrative assistant Jessica Kaye with lunch at Mi Ranchito.
    HR:
  • Assisting departments with open positions, assisting candidates with pre-employment conditions, testing and interviews.
  • Participated in the annual WNHRA conference in Gering, Nebraska for education on FLSA wage and hour law, DOL updates, and other HR training.
  • Administering the City’s FMCSA and FTA drug and alcohol testing program to ensure compliance with both programs, including updates to the City’s Drug-free workplace policy.
  • Completing wage and benefit survey with comparisons to other first-class cities to ensure wages and benefits are comparative with other municipalities.
  • Accepting applications for Part Time Transit Driver, Police Lieutenant, Police Sergeant, Police Officer, Public Safety Dispatcher and Seasonal positions. Seasonal positions are filling fast! Interested candidates should submit their applications immediately for considerations. All positions are open until filled.
    Electric:
  • We continue making progress on the three-phase line extension for the Schiff Feedlot expansion, installed padmount transformer and related equipment for processing barn service.
  • Installed and terminated primary cables at Westco building sites.
  • Repaired several storm caused issues on rural line north of Alliance.
  • Started installation of new streetlights in Lakefield Addition.
  • Prepared new primary metering equipment for future installation at business in Berea.
  • Multiple department personnel attended City training opportunities.
  • Met with Walther Potato personnel on service requirements for proposed new potato storage facility south of Alliance.
  • Repaired/replaced several streetlights.
    Accounting and Finance:

  • The permanent Electrical repair of the airfield runway 12/30 lights was completed this week on Tuesday and Wednesday. Shout out to maintenance staff for two days of super long hours.

    RSVP and Senior Center:
  • Staff attended some mandatory training this week.
  • Continued serving dine in and delivery meals to area seniors this week.
  • There were 15 RSVP volunteers assisting in the community this week.
  • Hosted a card party, bingo, and a movie party at the Senior Center this week.
    Museum:
  • Hosted several business and individual meetings and some private events this week.
  • The Museum is hosting the Alliance Public Schools Foundation silent auction fundraiser in the gallery.
  • Assisted with several research inquiries this week.
  • Continued with cleaning and sorting donated artifacts in the basement.
  • Traveled to Valentine to pick up some items donated to the collection.
    Golf:
  • Planted larger trees on the course and some smaller ones in the tree farm for future tree planting on the course.
  • Continued with maintenance of the course.
  • Hosted the Alliance High School invite on Tuesday.
  • Memberships and cart storage fees getting paid for the 2024 season.
    Library:
  • This week has been full of planning for the Mother/Daughter Tea Party coming up on Saturday. I am so proud of the way this staff comes together to make things happen in the library. I could not be more appreciative of their efforts in making this soon to be annual event a success. The Alliance Public Library Foundation sponsors this event, including decorations and lunch for our attendees. We are hoping to have a second evening tea sometime over the holidays, so be sure to watch for details! Special thanks to Shana Brown, Karen Trussell, Annette Wood, Charlie Carnine, and the City of Alliance Parks department for their assistance as well!
  • Children’s Librarian Cynthia Horn held Story Time featuring “Picnic Adventures” and watercolor and hosted Youth Book Club with a discussion of the “I Survived…..” series by Lauren Tarshis. She also helped plan the Mother/Daughter Tea Party featuring music by Charlie Carnine with her fiddle, Karen Trussell with her Teapot collection, Annette Wood’s Barbie collection, refreshments provided by the Alliance Public Library Foundation, and so much more! Cynthia also did KCOW announcements, organized the Book Mobile, and made program preparations.
  • Technical Services Librarian Emily Nelson attended the IT Advisory Board meeting, made weekly book mobile deliveries, and assisted patrons. She also processed book club kits and ILLs for the library book clubs and patrons.
  • Adult Services Librarian Nalani Stewart cataloged new materials and hosted the book club at Highland Park Care Center. She also aided in the setup of the Mother Daughter Tea Party.
  • Library Clerks Pam Becker and Stephanie Hamilton have been busy putting on the finishing touches of the tea party and assisting all our patrons!
    Parks Division:
  • Continued with start-up and repair on irrigation systems in the parks.
  • Met with stucco contractor at Big Blue Bay and discussed repairs.
  • Moved tables from the Museum to the Library for a weekend event.

The North Platte Police Department participated in a High Visibility Drug Impaired Driving Enforcement Mobilization from April 19th through April 21st. A total of 25 traffic contacts were made. One arrest was made for Possession of a Controlled Substance. One citation was issued for violation of a traffic signal, One driver was cited for Carless Driving and Exhibition of Speed.   • Bytes upgraded multiple outdated computers at APD.
  • Completed supervisor training on Employee Drug Testing.
  • Attended Walk at Lunch Day.
  • Met with our VIP coordinator about increasing VIP involvement in our events and activities.
  • Met with our Volunteer Chaplain coordinator about how we can partner to reach those in the community who may be in need of services.
  • Finalized the Operations Budget submission for APD.
  • Met with Chief Shoemaker about radio upgrades and began the discussion with Motorola. Current radios are business grade and do not meet public safety security standards.

  • Completing wage and benefit survey with comparisons to other first-class cities to ensure wages and benefits are comparative with other municipalities.

  • The Museum is hosting the Alliance Public Schools Foundation silent auction fundraiser in the gallery.

  • Continued with cleaning and sorting donated artifacts in the basement.
  • Traveled to Valentine to pick up some items donated to the collection.
    Golf:
  • Planted larger trees on the course and some smaller ones in the tree farm for future tree planting on the course.
  • Continued with maintenance of the course.
  • Hosted the Alliance High School invite on Tuesday.
  • Memberships and cart storage fees getting paid for the 2024 season.
    Library:
  • This week has been full of planning for the Mother/Daughter Tea Party coming up on Saturday. I am so proud of the way this staff comes together to make things happen in the library. I could not be more appreciative of their efforts in making this soon to be annual event a success. The Alliance Public Library Foundation sponsors this event, including decorations and lunch for our attendees. We are hoping to have a second evening tea sometime over the holidays, so be sure to watch for details! Special thanks to Shana Brown, Karen Trussell, Annette Wood, Charlie Carnine, and the City of Alliance Parks department for their assistance as well!
  • Children’s Librarian Cynthia Horn held Story Time featuring “Picnic Adventures” and watercolor and hosted Youth Book Club with a discussion of the “I Survived…..” series by Lauren Tarshis. She also helped plan the Mother/Daughter Tea Party featuring music by Charlie Carnine with her fiddle, Karen Trussell with her Teapot collection, Annette Wood’s Barbie collection, refreshments provided by the Alliance Public Library Foundation, and so much more! Cynthia also did KCOW announcements, organized the Book Mobile, and made program preparations.
  • Technical Services Librarian Emily Nelson attended the IT Advisory Board meeting, made weekly book mobile deliveries, and assisted patrons. She also processed book club kits and ILLs for the library book clubs and patrons.
  • Adult Services Librarian Nalani Stewart cataloged new materials and hosted the book club at Highland Park Care Center. She also aided in the setup of the Mother Daughter Tea Party.
  • Library Clerks Pam Becker and Stephanie Hamilton have been busy putting on the finishing touches of the tea party and assisting all our patrons!
    Parks Division:
  • Continued with start-up and repair on irrigation systems in the parks.
  • Met with stucco contractor at Big Blue Bay and discussed repairs.

    Library:
  • This week has been full of planning for the Mother/Daughter Tea Party coming up on Saturday. I am so proud of the way this staff comes together to make things happen in the library. I could not be more appreciative of their efforts in making this soon to be annual event a success. The Alliance Public Library Foundation sponsors this event, including decorations and lunch for our attendees. We are hoping to have a second evening tea sometime over the holidays, so be sure to watch for details! Special thanks to Shana Brown, Karen Trussell, Annette Wood, Charlie Carnine, and the City of Alliance Parks department for their assistance as well!
  • Children’s Librarian Cynthia Horn held Story Time featuring “Picnic Adventures” and watercolor and hosted Youth Book Club with a discussion of the “I Survived…..” series by Lauren Tarshis. She also helped plan the Mother/Daughter Tea Party featuring music by Charlie Carnine with her fiddle, Karen Trussell with her Teapot collection, Annette Wood’s Barbie collection, refreshments provided by the Alliance Public Library Foundation, and so much more! Cynthia also did KCOW announcements, organized the Book Mobile, and made program preparations.
  • Technical Services Librarian Emily Nelson attended the IT Advisory Board meeting, made weekly book mobile deliveries, and assisted patrons. She also processed book club kits and ILLs for the library book clubs and patrons.
  • Adult Services Librarian Nalani Stewart cataloged new materials and hosted the book club at Highland Park Care Center. She also aided in the setup of the Mother Daughter Tea Party.
  • Library Clerks Pam Becker and Stephanie Hamilton have been busy putting on the finishing touches of the tea party and assisting all our patrons!
    Parks Division:
  • Continued with start-up and repair on irrigation systems in the parks.

The North Platte Police Department participated in a High Visibility Drug Impaired Driving Enforcement Mobilization from April 19th through April 21st. A total of 25 traffic contacts were made.   • Bytes upgraded multiple outdated computers at APD.
  • Completed supervisor training on Employee Drug Testing.
  • Attended Walk at Lunch Day.
  • Met with our VIP coordinator about increasing VIP involvement in our events and activities.
  • Met with our Volunteer Chaplain coordinator about how we can partner to reach those in the community who may be in need of services.
  • Finalized the Operations Budget submission for APD.
  • Met with Chief Shoemaker about radio upgrades and began the discussion with Motorola. Current radios are business grade and do not meet public safety security standards.

  • Participated in the annual WNHRA conference in Gering, Nebraska for education on FLSA wage and hour law, DOL updates, and other HR training.
  • Administering the City’s FMCSA and FTA drug and alcohol testing program to ensure compliance with both programs, including updates to the City’s Drug-free workplace policy.
  • Completing wage and benefit survey with comparisons to other first-class cities to ensure wages and benefits are comparative with other municipalities.
  • Accepting applications for Part Time Transit Driver, Police Lieutenant, Police Sergeant, Police Officer, Public Safety Dispatcher and Seasonal positions. Seasonal positions are filling fast!   • This week has been full of planning for the Mother/Daughter Tea Party coming up on Saturday. I am so proud of the way this staff comes together to make things happen in the library. I could not be more appreciative of their efforts in making this soon to be annual event a success. The Alliance Public Library Foundation sponsors this event, including decorations and lunch for our attendees. We are hoping to have a second evening tea sometime over the holidays, so be sure to watch for details! Special thanks to Shana Brown, Karen Trussell, Annette Wood, Charlie Carnine, and the City of Alliance Parks department for their assistance as well!
  • Children’s Librarian Cynthia Horn held Story Time featuring “Picnic Adventures” and watercolor and hosted Youth Book Club with a discussion of the “I Survived…..” series by Lauren Tarshis. She also helped plan the Mother/Daughter Tea Party featuring music by Charlie Carnine with her fiddle, Karen Trussell with her Teapot collection, Annette Wood’s Barbie collection, refreshments provided by the Alliance Public Library Foundation, and so much more! Cynthia also did KCOW announcements, organized the Book Mobile, and made program preparations.
  • Technical Services Librarian Emily Nelson attended the IT Advisory Board meeting, made weekly book mobile deliveries, and assisted patrons. She also processed book club kits and ILLs for the library book clubs and patrons.
  • Adult Services Librarian Nalani Stewart cataloged new materials and hosted the book club at Highland Park Care Center. She also aided in the setup of the Mother Daughter Tea Party.
  • Library Clerks Pam Becker and Stephanie Hamilton have been busy putting on the finishing touches of the tea party and assisting all our patrons!
    Parks Division:
  • Continued with start-up and repair on irrigation systems in the parks.
  • Met with stucco contractor at Big Blue Bay and discussed repairs.

    • Met with City Manager and Lynn Placek about upcoming funding changes at the airport. APD is committed to providing the same level of service to the airport regardless of TSA funding.
    • Attended the IT advisory board meeting.
    • Bytes upgraded multiple outdated computers at APD.
    • Completed supervisor training on Employee Drug Testing.
    • Attended Walk at Lunch Day.
    • Met with our VIP coordinator about increasing VIP involvement in our events and activities.
    • Met with our Volunteer Chaplain coordinator about how we can partner to reach those in the community who may be in need of services.
    • Finalized the Operations Budget submission for APD.
    • Met with Chief Shoemaker about radio upgrades and began the discussion with Motorola. Current radios are business grade and do not meet public safety security standards.
    • Celebrated our administrative assistant Jessica Kaye with lunch at Mi Ranchito.
      HR:
    • Assisting departments with open positions, assisting candidates with pre-employment conditions, testing and interviews.
    • Participated in the annual WNHRA conference in Gering, Nebraska for education on FLSA wage and hour law, DOL updates, and other HR training.
    • Administering the City’s FMCSA and FTA drug and alcohol testing program to ensure compliance with both programs, including updates to the City’s Drug-free workplace policy.
    • Completing wage and benefit survey with comparisons to other first-class cities to ensure wages and benefits are comparative with other municipalities.
    • Accepting applications for Part Time Transit Driver, Police Lieutenant, Police Sergeant, Police Officer, Public Safety Dispatcher and Seasonal positions. Seasonal positions are filling fast! Interested candidates should submit their applications immediately for considerations. All positions are open until filled.
      Electric:
    • We continue making progress on the three-phase line extension for the Schiff Feedlot expansion, installed padmount transformer and related equipment for processing barn service.
    • Installed and terminated primary cables at Westco building sites.
    • Repaired several storm caused issues on rural line north of Alliance.
    • Started installation of new streetlights in Lakefield Addition.
    • Prepared new primary metering equipment for future installation at business in Berea.
    • Multiple department personnel attended City training opportunities.
    • Met with Walther Potato personnel on service requirements for proposed new potato storage facility south of Alliance.
    • Repaired/replaced several streetlights.
      Accounting and Finance:
    • Attended Staff Training.
    • Attended EAC meeting.
    • Attended IT Advisory Board meeting.
    • Participated in Walk for Lunch day.

    Utility Billing Office:

I could not be more appreciative of their efforts in making this soon to be annual event a success. The Alliance Public Library Foundation sponsors this event, including decorations and lunch for our attendees. We are hoping to have a second evening tea sometime over the holidays, so be sure to watch for details! Special thanks to Shana Brown, Karen Trussell, Annette Wood, Charlie Carnine, and the City of Alliance Parks department for their assistance as well!
    • Children’s Librarian Cynthia Horn held Story Time featuring “Picnic Adventures” and watercolor and hosted Youth Book Club with a discussion of the “I Survived…..” series by Lauren Tarshis. She also helped plan the Mother/Daughter Tea Party featuring music by Charlie Carnine with her fiddle, Karen Trussell with her Teapot collection, Annette Wood’s Barbie collection, refreshments provided by the Alliance Public Library Foundation, and so much more! Cynthia also did KCOW announcements, organized the Book Mobile, and made program preparations.
