There are stories of myth and legend that speak of giants, Goliath being just one. There are photos of people who have grown significantly larger than the general population and there have been skeletons found. We cannot deny they existed.
We all have heard the myths of history of superheroes that are half-man and half-god. I think of characters like Hercules, Thor, Wonder Woman, Starlord, and others. They have godlike qualities because they have a supernatural birthright. It’s in their blood.
Blood is seldom considered a pleasant topic, especially by the squeamish. But as Christians we have to think about it and speak about it from time to time because it is so central to our faith.
There are four main known blood types: A, B, AB, and O. In addition, each blood type has an Rh factor, or Rhesus factor, which is a protein found in your red blood cells. Your blood can be either RhD positive (+) if you have the protein, or RhD negative (-) if you do not.
Some blood types are more common in certain groups. Up to 53% of Latin Americans and 47% of African Americans have blood type O+. In comparison, only 39% of Asians, and 37% of Caucasians have this type. Blood type B+ is more common in Asians (25%) and less common in Latin Americans and Caucasians (both at 9%).
Shroud of Turin
Most people believe that Jesus had blood type AB because of the Shroud of Turin. This is an ancient relic that has an image of someone who is being crucified. The blood type tests done by Dr. Carlo Serafini on this ancient relic determine that the crucified person had blood type AB, which people believe is the blood type of Jesus of Nazareth. Those who hold this view also insist that the male on the Shroud of Turin was Jesus.
Indeed, under the law, almost everything is purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.
Hebrews 9:22
Whether he was AB negative or positive is not known. However, Dr. Serafini believes that the samples collected were AB-Negative, making the blood type of Jesus AB-Negative.
The AB blood type is the universal receiver; it can take into itself any other type of human blood. There is an important theological message here. Dr. Serafini calls this type of blood the “universal solvent.” That is, it can mix with and dissolve all other types of human blood into itself.
This is an astounding conclusion that fits perfectly with the saving mission of Jesus. Christ took on our sins and washed believers clean.
The Rh factor: Angels, Aliens or Anomaly
The Rh factor is a type of protein on the outside of red blood cells. Although Rh status can vary among populations, roughly 85% of people in the United States are Rh-positive. Worldwide, 94% have a positive Rh factor.
This fact combined with the Shroud discovery has lead some to the belief that the Rh factor points to an alien race or remnants of the Nephilim, fallen angels in the pre-flood era.
When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. Then the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came into the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown.
Genesis 6:1-4
The Nephilim are mysterious beings or people in the Hebrew Bible who are large and strong. The word Nephilim is loosely translated as giants in some translations of the Hebrew Bible but left untranslated in others. Jewish explanations interpret them as hybrid sons of fallen angels.
One reason Nephilim is often translated as “fallen ones” is the relation to the Hebrew word “naphal” (to fall). One school of thought associates these beings with fallen angels or their offspring.
There are three common viewpoints that scholars have taken on the question of Nephilim and their decendants.
Who are the sons of god?

- godless offspring of Cain’s decendants
What was the sin?
- lust

- Unequally yoked, marriage between Godly and godless
Who are the Nephilim?
- offspring of demons and humans
- famous men
- famous men
Some modern day conspiracy theories claim that Rh negative blood is the indicator of the Nephilim decendants. Others believe that those that carry the Rh negative have alien ancestry.
Most Biblical scholars believe view 1, however they also believe that all Nephilim were destroyed in the flood and Rh factor is not connected.
The story of the flood says that all living creatures were destroyed other than what was on the ark. But if we believe that God destroyed the Nephilim like Genesis suggests, what is going on in Numbers?
And there we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim), and we seemed to ourselves like grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them.

How is this explained?
- The Nephilim survived
- Nephilim returned to mate with humans again after the flood
- The Numbers passage is an exaggeration
Most Bible scholars believe view 3 in this case.
There is another group that believe the sons of man in Genesis were aliens from advanced, extraterrestrial civilization. According to this theory, Nephilim were human-alien hybrids instead of human-demon.
This is even harder to believe. What is clear is that the Nephilim did exist, myths and legends have a bit of truth and God did and will bring judgment on the evil in this world.
For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment; if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others; if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly;
