The Flood

from Disaster by Meredith Schafer

When the flood threatens to overwhelm you and you’re surrounded by rising water, you are not alone. Call on the One who sits enthroned over the flood.

If the current is about to sweep you away, trust the Life Preserver.

When you build your house on the solid rock of Jesus, Matthew 7:25 promises it will remain through any storm.

And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall (emphasis mine).

Matthew 7:25

The Lord will give you strength for the untenable situation you face. There is nothing too much, too hard, too deep, or too wide for God to handle. He not only gives you the strength to keep going when you feel too weak to carry on, but he gives you peace as you let him help you rebuild your life.

The waves may be crashing around you. It may appear to your human eyes that there is no way out. God has the answers, strength, and peace when your world has come undone at the seams and you are going under.

His promises are for you, and you can count on them.

He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭23:2‬

Right now, if the flood has torn apart your world, heart, relationship, mind, body, or soul, that is the exact place God meets you. He lovingly cares for us at our worst and brings us to a place where we can heal, revive, and restore.

You will never be alone in floods, storms, waves, or wind. Build your house on the Rock, and there will be nothing that can knock it down. Our God still saves, still rescues, still calms the wind and waves, and still brings the miraculous from the impossible.

‬The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord sits enthroned as king forever. May the Lord give strength to his people! May the Lord bless his people with peace!

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭29:10‭-‬11

Nothing is too great for our God.

Prayer: Jesus, name above all, I need you now more than ever! The flood pulls me under, and I can’t hold on much longer. I trust that you are still enthroned above the flood. For today, will you give me peace that defies all logic? Will you send me a lifeline? Thank you for being the God who still performs miracles. Save me, Lord! In Jesus’ name, amen.
