Semi Fire Extinguished

(BUFFALO COUNTY, Neb.) — A quick response by local volunteer firefighters helped extinguish a fully engulfed commercial semi Tuesday morning.

Here is the rest of the story from the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office

“This was once a semi-truck.

Around 2:30 AM Tuesday morning, deputies responded to a fully engulfed vehicle fire about two miles west of Elm Creek. A commercial semi caught fire, and within minutes, the entire cab was consumed.

Fortunately, the driver was able to disconnect the trailer and escape safely before the fire reached the cab.

Thanks to the fast response of the Elm Creek Volunteer Fire Department, the flames were contained and extinguished before spreading further. No one was injured.

Keep in mind—these volunteer firefighters were at home, asleep, when the call came in. They left the comfort of their beds, raced to the station, and headed into the dark to stop this fire. And after all that? Most of them went straight to their regular jobs in the morning.

Here in Buffalo County, every fire department—Elm Creek, Pleasanton, Amherst, Riverdale, Ravenna, Miller, Shelton, Gibbon, and Kearney—is made up of volunteers. They show up, day or night, not for pay or recognition, but because they care about their neighbors. We’re fortunate to work alongside some of the most dedicated crews around.

To all of our local volunteer firefighters: Thank you. You make a difference—every single call.”

We want to reiterate the thankfulness that we have for these amazing volunteers in every community across the region.
