Farm Rescue Adds New State to Service Footprint

Nonprofit launching Illinois assistance operations in 2023

Farm Rescue was founded in 2005 and has helped nearly 1,000 families since its inception. Farm Rescue’s mission is to help farmers and ranchers who have experienced a major illness, injury or natural disaster by providing the necessary equipment and volunteer workforce to plant, hay or harvest their crop. Livestock feeding assistance is also available to ranchers. Farm Rescue helps farm and ranch families in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas and will soon be adding Illinois to the list.

Operations will begin with spring planting assistance in 2023, followed by haying, harvest, commodity hauling and livestock feeding support throughout the remaining growing season and for years to come. These services will be available to eligible farm families across the Prairie State.

This expansion is being made possible through the generosity of several major sponsors, including AnheuserBusch, John Deere, Nutrien Ag Solutions and Wyffels Hybrids. Farm Rescue has also received support for its Illinois operations through local John Deere retailer, Sloan Implement. The company is helping to coordinate delivery of a combine for 2023 harvest assistance efforts in Illinois and the surrounding region, as well as supplying tech support and service for Farm Rescue’s initial launch of operations in the state.

Farm Rescue is very thankful for the unwavering support from our family of sponsors in helping us grow our service area.

We look forward to extending a helping hand to many farm families in crisis throughout the state of Illinois.

Bill Gross, Founder & President, Farm Rescue

With the addition of Illinois in 2023, Farm Rescue and its volunteer workforce will now serve a total of 8 states. The nonprofit is currently accepting applications for assistance from families within its existing service states, including Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, Minnesota, Montana and South Dakota.

Any farm family experiencing a major injury, illness or natural disaster is encouraged to apply at farmrescue.org or by calling 701-252-2017. If you know of anyone needing assistance, referrals are also welcome.

Get Involved

Farm Rescue is proof that one person can make a huge difference in the lives of others! And our founder, Bill Gross, will tell you that it takes one person and an army of volunteers, sponsors and donors to really make magic.

You can support Farm Rescue through a monetary donation, purchase any of the items in their online Shop, host a fundraiser or simply share our mission with others. They also need volunteers in a variety of capacities.

Volunteer

Farm Rescue is fortunate to have the world’s best volunteers! These Angels in Blue come from all over the country with different talents and abilities – all with a heart of gold.

Many volunteer their services in the field operating farm equipment, while others help behind the scenes, to help Farm Rescue operations run smoothly.

Volunteers provide their own transportation to the state where they are needed or to the closest airport. We cover lodging, some meal expenses and travel within our service area, which is related to our operations.

Applications for assistance are currently being accepted and can be obtained at http://www.farmrescue.org or by calling 701-252-2017.
