For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority; and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ; having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.

Colossians 2:9-15

If we add to the Gospel, what we really do is subtract from the saving power of Jesus.

1 Total fulfillment is found in Him.

Jesus Christ is God in human flesh. God was fully present in the presence of Jesus Christ.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:1 (NASB)

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1:14 (NASB)

Fullness is the word pleroma. The same fullness that resided in Jesus, now fully resides in every believer. Stop looking for fulfillment and satisfaction in anything other than Jesus.

Ask yourself this question, “Am I looking for fulfillment in any of these?”

• The next purchase
• The next paycheck
• The next relationship
• The next physical enhancement
• The next one of my child’s competition
• The next job
• The next trip, vacation or escape

2 True life is found in Him.

He made us alive together with Him. You were dead, hopeless, doomed on your own. But He made us alive when we accepted His gift of salvation. Your 99% is not enough to clear you for heaven, there is no curve in God’s eternity.

3 Total freedom is found in Him.

We have a certificate of debt, our sin debt. It’s every time we have sinned is on that certificate, but Jesus canceled that debt when He took it to the cross. It is paid in full! Once we are forgiven, we are set free.

Salvation is not free, forgiveness is not free, it’s just free to you. You can go free, because Jesus already took care of the bill

4 Ultimate victory is found in Him.

When Jesus died on the cross, he defeated the evil one, the Devil, and the rulers and authorities and then he dragged them on a victory parade. Our Jesus is our conquering hero. He defeated death and in Him you have victory too!
