Chapter 6 covers materialism. It comes with a cost that is sometimes subtle and sometimes all too obvious. Far worse is how materialism can negatively affect our walk with God and how rampant it will become in the last days.

In the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money 2 Timothy 3:1a

When we disallow God His rightful place a supreme Lord of our lives, self moves in to replace Him. It’s as inevitable as night follows day that those who are lovers of themselves will also be lovers of money.

So how do we combat materialism? The antidote is generosity. Here are four ways we can fight the tendency toward the love of money and possessions:

• Change the way you think about money
• Before you do the big things, do the little things
• Start giving more than you can afford
• Make sure you’re moving toward your treasure

In many cultures throughout history, the dead were buried with items they might need in the next life. But no matter who we are or how much we amass on this earth, none of it follows us when we die.
