Radical Islam (The Book of Signs, Ch. 8)

by Dr. David Jeremiah

Americans do not seem to take the threat of Islam seriously. In fact, research tells us that US citizens are essentially oblivious to the potential danger of radical Muslims.

Is Islam actually peaceful?

If so, why are there so many verses in the Koran about killing the infidels and those who resist Islam. Why isn’t there even one Muslim country that will allow freedom of religion and speech? The name Islam literally means “submission.”

To get a handle on these contradictory sides of Islam we look into:

• The history of Islam
• The habits of Islam
• The hatred of Islam
• The hopes of Islam

We need to respond to the rise of the Islamic radicalism. There are two truths that maintain a clear understanding of the vast chasm between Christianity and Islam.

1. “Allah” is not another name for the God of the Bible. Allah can not be known, but the God of the Bible is knowable. Allah doesn’;’t have emotional feelings toward humanity, but God is love and grace.
2. The Qu’ran is not a divine book on par with the Bible. The Bible is a masterpiece of cohesion, depth and consistency. The Qu’ran is a self-contradicting book written from the memories of those who heard Muhammad.

God is at work in the Islamic world. Many Muslims are being confronted with the gospel in their dreams. Our prayers, our testimonies and our love for our Islamic neighbors may not turn the inevitable tide for the world, but they can turn the tide for individuals and allow them to escape the wrath to come.
