Mark of the Beast (The Book of Signs, Ch. 25)

As citizens of the modern world and participants in a “civilized” culture, we like to think the Holocaust represents the last time a mark will be used for identification as a way of perpetuating evil in our world on such a large scale. But it won’t be. Satan plans to use another mark during the Tribulation, the mark of the Beast, and its use will be worldwide.

The Personalities Behind The Mark

The False Prophet, working on behalf of the Antichrist, will implement and use the mark to subjugate the world during the Tribulation period. He will be a religious leader, the kind Jesus warned of. Many false prophets have come and gone, but none have had the devastating impact on the world’s population that the False Prophet of Revelation will inflict.

The Purpose Of The Mark

Only those who have the mark or the Antichrist’s name or his number, identifying them as his followers, will be able to sell goods nd services to support themselves and secure what they need. Anyone refusing to wear the mark will struggle to survive.

The Perplexity About The Mark

No one knows what form the mark of the Beast will take. John gives us a mysterious clue “Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding claculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of man: His number is 666” ~ Revelation 13:18. Bottom line: no one knows the real meaning of 666.

The Precursors To The Mark

The apostle John didn’t know how the False Prophet could cause a mark to have such power to divide and conquer; he just knew he would. Bit I think we in the twenty-first century have some idea of what can make it possible for the False Prophet to effectively weaponize the mark of the Beast: technology.

What Will Happen In The End?

The form and nature of the mark will remain a mystery until it is actually implemented. But there is no mystery about the future of those who accept the mark. As long as the Beast maintains control, all will be well with those who accept it.

Followers of Christ who refuse the mark will experience deadly persecution.
