We covered the Border crisis in September when Elon Musk interviewed Border Patrol agents in Eagle Pass. This shed new light on the huge problem at our southern border.
This pushed to a group of Senators to visit the border in November of 2023 and declared that they need to stop the flow. Then Speaker Johnson took a group of Congressmen to the border as well.
GOP brings its immigration fight to Eagle Pass
House Speaker Mike Johnson and dozens of Republican members of Congress visited Eagle Pass, Texas on January 2, 2024 — one of the most heavily-crossed sections of the U.S.-Mexico border.
The GOP lawmakers met with local officials in Eagle Pass, who say they have been overwhelmed by the thousands of migrants who have crossed in recent weeks. They also met with state officials who are a part of Gov. Greg Abbott’s controversial Operation Lone Star border security program meant to deter illegal immigration.
In a Press Release on January 3, Speaker Mike Johnson said:
The House has done its job. As I mentioned, we’ve delivered commonsense legislation that will secure our border, but it’s been sitting on Chuck Schumer’s desk for seven months. H.R. 2 was our bill and the time to act on it is yesterday. It certainly needs to happen. With each passing day, each record broken, this administration’s dereliction of duty becomes more and more dangerous and more and more infuriating. And we are here to say that it must stop. What we saw today only made House Republicans more resolved to stand for sanity and the American people and we will do it. If President Biden wants a supplemental spending bill focused on national security, it better begin by defending America’s national security. It begins right here on our southern border.
Texas seizes control of park, blocks Border Patrol from entering, as part of anti-illegal immigration efforts
On January 11, The Texas National Guard seized control of Shelby Park in the city of Eagle Pass, Texas at the U.S. southern border and is now blocking Border Patrol from entering the area as an effort to stop the surge of illegal immigration into Texas.
The Texas Military Dept. said it has maintained a presence in the park since 2021, including with security points and temporary barriers. They said “The current posture is to prepare for future illegal immigrant surges and to restrict access to organizations that perpetuate illegal immigrant crossings in the park and greater Eagle Pass area,“.
According to Fox News, The Border Patrol union confirmed that agents were being blocked from entering by Texas soldiers, and praised Abbott for taking matters into his own hands.
Governor Abbott is not harming Border Patrol operations, he is enhancing them. His seizing control of Shelby Park allows our agents to deploy to troubled spots that experience high numbers of gotaways. Governor Abbott’s actions should be seen as a force multiplier.

Biden administration sends Texas cease-and-desist letter on border access
Department of Homeland Security General Counsel Jonathan Meyer sent a letter to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton which said that a combination of Texas National Guard soldiers, equipment and physical barriers is unconstitutionally restricting Border Patrol access to about 2½ miles of the U.S.-Mexico border.
The recent actions by the State of Texas have impeded operations of the Border Patrol. Those actions conflict with the authority and duties of Border Patrol under federal law and are preempted under the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution. Texas’s actions also improperly seek to regulate the federal government. I am writing to demand that Texas immediately cease and desist any actions taken by the State that block Border Patrol’s full access to the U.S.-Mexico border in and around the Shelby Park area.

Texas defies federal threat to abandon border area, setting up legal showdown
Because the facts and law side with Texas, the State will continue utilizing its constitutional authority to defend her territory, and I will continue defending those lawful efforts in court. Rather than addressing Texas’s urgent requests for protection, President Biden has authorized DHS to send a threatening letter through its lawyers. But Texas has lawyers, too, and I will continue to stand up for this State’s constitutional powers of self-defense.

But even though Texas took over Eagle Pass, there are too many holes left open for the cartels. That’s where all the drugs and trafficked individuals are actually coming through, not through the ports.

And the fact that the border surge facilitates child traffickers is laughed at.

The men were NOT caught. They are among those moving through uninterrupted – strategically while large groups tie up Border Patrol agents.
