Thank you to everyone who came together to offer prayers. I believe our prayers were heard, and while his death is a tragedy, he did not die in vain if we learn something valuable from all of this. Put hate from your heart if you can and find forgiveness. The blame and consequence of actions will be real. There is suffering on this earth and it is up to each and every one of us to do what we can to lighten the suffering and put a light where we may. That may be by helping a neighbor or noticing someone struggling. That may be saying a kind word when all you can think of are hateful or unkind words.

Today is a sad day because we see a life lost unnecessarily. But this happens everyday across the country and world. Children, teens, and adults dying and killing each other for dumb or unnecessary reasons. A change must start inside of each and every one of us.

I’ve lost a child. I would not wish it upon my worst enemy. Yet, I know my child is in the arms of Jesus. I pray this child’s parents have that same peace regardless of the circumstances.
