(NORTH PLATTE, Neb.) — A North Platte woman was on her way home from work when she spotted flames and instantly sprung into action.
I know all too well what it feels like to discover a fire. Kayla Dockery of North Platte felt those same emotions when she spotted a fire while leaving work to go home Saturday in North Platte.
She says she ran in and grabbed her boss and coworker to help. They tried to bang on the apartment door to let people know to get out.
She explains she was on the phone with 911, her boss banging on doors, and her coworker trying to put flames out with a small fire extinguisher.
“A Good Samaritan stopped and helped us with his fire extinguisher. We put flames out, but it struck back up shortly before the fire department arrived. From what we could see, it was a couch outside. I’m blessed I was in the right place at the right time to call and help,” said Kayla.
Thank you, Kayla, for sharing these pictures. Thank you for doing what you could to help!
