Troopers, Deputies, EMTs, and Nebraska Department of Transportation crews, all assisted yesterday after two crashes occurred in construction zones on I-80 near Elm Creek. Our thoughts are with all affected by these two crashes.

Nebraska Department of Transportation has closed Interstate 80 for westbound traffic at Kearney due to an injury accident at mile marker 256 in the eastbound lanes involving 3 semi trucks. I-80 eastbound is closed at Lexington as well.
The detour route is Highway 44 south to Highway 6 & 34 to go west from Kearney. Please use caution and stay alert for emergency vehicles in this area.

UPDATE: 6:15pm. The interstate is open for normal traffic.
