Last week we started chapter 1 and left off with this quote:
Total forgiveness does not mean closing our eyes to those who will continue to harm others.
Before going any further, let me clarify what total forgiveness is not.
Approval of what they did

Excusing what they did
Just as God forgives people without approving of their sin, we also must learn that forgiving people does not imply an endorsement of their evil deeds.

Justifying what they did
Pardoning what they did
Reconciliation
Reconciliation requires the participation of two people.

Denying what they did
Blindness to what happened

Forgetting

It is a demonstration of greater grace when we are fully aware of what occurred – and we still choose to forgive.
Refusing to take the wrong seriously
Pretending we are not hurt
