Lauing Ranch

Since the early 1900s, The Lauing Family has ranched in Central South Dakota. As the third and fourth generations ranching here, we continue to build our program. Our mission is to preserve the usability and accomplishments of Blue Valentine/Joe Hanock foundatiom through offspring bred for your consideration.

Foals from our ranch go on to other breeding programs, to the arena, and to be used as working ranch horses. These horses are mounting competitors from youth to the PRCA all across the country. They are cowy horses that are smooth moving across the pasture and quick on their feet in the arena. They have color, conformation and size with muscle and the right amount of bone to perform in all disciplines. Horses raised here will do well anywhere.

All Lauing Ranch stallions and mares are AQHA tested negative for the 5 panel genetics test. Keeping true to the Blue Valentine Legacy with stallions such as Hancocks Red Fox, with impressive names on his papers including Leo Hancock Hayes and Fox Coup, Lauing Ranch has added new this year, Plenty Coup Bonnet. He is 50% Gooseberry and his foals will be available in 2020. The Lauings are AQHA Lifetime Members, consecutively breeding horses for nearly 40 years. AS Ranching Heritage Breeders since 2009, all Lauing Ranch foals are eligible and can be nominated to the AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenge.

The best way to see what Lauing Ranch has to offer, is to see the horses for yourself. Visitors are always welcome. We would love to show you our horses. We have been fortunate to be in a business we love, and that continues to help us connect with our buyers who have become friends over the years. Moonshine Quarter Horses

Moonshine Creek Quarter Horses is a small farm, nestled in the River Valley of Arkansas, where we have developed a breeding program that emphasizes Blue Valentine. We line breed Blue Valentine and outcross on a variety of bloodlines through our mares.

Moonshine Creek strives to produce top quality quarter horses that will excel on the ranch, in the arena, or just out for a pleasure ride. Emphasis on conformation, ample bone structure, athletic ability, and most of all, unbelievable dispositions in our foals is our top priority. Our goal is to raise the type of foal that a person will love to be around and enjoy working with inside or outside the arena.

Moonshine Creek’s mares carry a variety of pedigrees which include Blue Valentine, Fox Coup, Leo Hancock Hayes, Gooseberry, Doc Bar, Blondys Dude, Two Eyed Jack, OK Star, Bert, and King. As it was with Charless Bewley, and my father back when I was a boy, we believe in honesty and let our horses do their own talking when we have visitors on the farm. Sunrise Farms has been raising high percentage Blue Valentine, Joe Hancock and Driftwood bred horses for over 15 years. We offer quality bloodlines that produce natural athletes who perform. We take great pride in the heritage of our horses and believe that every foal could be the next World Champion.

Working horses are athletes in their own right. Our horses are bred to work hard in the roping pen or in the show arena. We believe their work ethic is as important as their pedigree.

Sunrise Farm horses are raised to be our partners. Our goal is to produce horses that are easy to handle and that are willing…willing to try, willing to work, willing to do whatever is asked of them. We would like to sincerely thank Sam Shoultz for his patient guidance in directing our breeding program to excel. Without his knowledge and KeSa horses, we would not have the quality horses we enjoy today.
