(SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb.) — On June 10th, 2025 at around 4:46 p.m., Sergeant Mark Bliss and Deputy Logan Ledroit were dispatched to the residence on West 35th in reference to an individual who had threatened another with a firearm.
Upon arrival, the suspect was contacted outside the residence. When asked if anyone had pulled a gun out during an altercation, he stated “I was threatened to be killed in my own house”. When asked where the gun was, he told officers that it was inside the house and that he was not legally allowed to possess firearms because he is a convicted felon. He was then placed under arrest for being a prohibited person and possession of a firearm. It was later confirmed that Raymond Stuart (62) was a convicted felon. During a search of his person, a cartridge of THC was located in his left front pants pocket.
According to Victim #1, Stuart became upset because he (the victim) had not cleaned up dog poop out of the yard when asked to do so. He stated that the suspect grabbed him by the front of his shirt and said “I’ll beat the f*** out of you, I’ll kill you”. He then told the officers that Stuart stepped back like he was going to punch him, so he grabbed the suspect by the arm. The suspect then let go and went into his room and retrieved a handgun. The victim said he exited the residence while his mother was still inside.
Victim #2 then informed the officers that she was in the garage when she heard her son yelling. “Get your hands off me”. That’s when she went into the residence when she observed victim #1 pushing the suspect’s hands off of him. She continued to say she stood between the two of them because they were still yelling. She told the suspect to sit down and sent victim #1 outside. The suspect continued by swinging his hands in her face and yelling at her. That’s when Stuart told her that he was going to kill victim #1. He pointed a handgun at her and told her he was going to shoot her if she did not get out of the house.
The suspect was then read his Miranda Rights and informed law enforcement officers that he did not want to speak with them. He was then transported to the Scottsbluff Detention Center where he was lodged for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, two counts of use of a firearm to commit a felony two counts of terroristic threats and possession of marijuana less than 1 oz.
On October 14, 2025, Raymond Stuart appeared in person before Judge Miller for sentencing. The Judge acknowledged that this case had a set of unfortunate circumstances noting the defendant’s large amount of remorse. He was sentenced to 1-2 years for the Terroristic threats and a minimum of 3 years for the possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
Raymond Stuart’s sentence began shortly after by being arrested inside the courtroom.
