Successful Multi Breed Program

Welcome to the Cattleman’s Corner.

I’m Brian Hale, sitting in for the late Howard Hale, as we continue his legacy of speaking with cattlemen and women from around the globe. The Cattleman’s Corner is sponsored by the American Gelbvieh Association. In a front-page article of Gelbvieh News, sustainability is a popular topic of conversation within the beef industry, with discussions surrounding improving operational efficiency and increasing transparency to build consumer trust while remaining profitable.

Gelbvieh females are proven to stay in the herd longer and consume less while weaning heavier calves. Gelbvieh-influenced females are the smart, reliable, and profitable maternal choice for achieving sustainability in today’s modern beef industry. Breed Gelbvieh.

Now, let’s switch gears here and go to three different breeds. This is Bryce Linskoff in a conversation we had before his sale last year. Let’s find out more about their operation.

My father, Les Linskoff, started in the registered Charolais business in 1981. This would be our 45th sale. We added Angus in 1995, and we added Herefords about five years ago.

This would be the first year we’ve sold any Herefords in the sale. So, we’re running about 3,000 registered cows and about 6,000 commercial cows. We’re north-central South Dakota.

We’d be five and a half miles north of Isabel, South Dakota, right off Highway 65. Our major airports into this area would be Bismarck, North Dakota, which would be an hour and 45 minutes. Rapid City, South Dakota would be two and a half hours.

There’s some private runways at Mulbridge, South Dakota, or Faith, South Dakota, within 45 minutes of the ranch. There’s a grass strip here at the ranch for any smaller planes. Most of the local lodging is full, so the closest lodging right now would be Mulbridge, South Dakota, or Faith, which is about a 45-minute drive.

Bryce Linskov from Linskov LT Ranch in Isabel, South Dakota. Listen to our full interview together on the Cattleman’s Corner Extended Version on cattlemanscorner.com. That’s it for today’s Cattleman’s Corner. Thanks again for listening, and may God bless.

I’m Brian Hale.
