(MARQUETTE, Neb.) — The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating an apparent suicide following an attempted search warrant at a Marquette residence Wednesday morning.
At approximately 7:00 a.m., the NSP Tech Crimes Unit, assisted by Homeland Security Investigations, attempted to serve a search warrant at a home on Center Street as part of an ongoing investigation involving suspected child sexual abuse material.
Investigators identified the resident as 47-year-old Chad Lammermann. While officers attempted to make contact, investigators reportedly saw Lammermann move farther inside the home. Moments later, officers heard gunshots coming from inside.
No officers were struck, and law enforcement did not fire their weapons. The NSP SWAT Team was activated and later entered the residence after multiple unsuccessful attempts to establish contact.
Lammermann was found inside with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say no law enforcement officers were injured, and no other individuals were inside the residence. The investigation remains ongoing.
