Worship Silences the Storm

As you take your rightful place to intercede both for yourself and the world around you, do so consistently. First Thessalonians 5:17 (NIV) reminds us to“pray without ceasing.”And as you pray, do not forget to worship.

Why is this important? Because you and I were created to worship God, who is worthy to be praised. Secondly, even the most seasoned prayer warrior will experience moments when answers seem delayed, and heaven feels silent. In those moments, if you are not careful, discouragement can set in, and faith can begin to waver. This is where worship becomes essential.

Worship lifts your focus from the problem to the One who is above all things. It reminds your heart that your answers are not found in your circumstances, but in God alone. Worship recenters you when chaos tries to overwhelm your mind, and it breaks cycles of worry, complacency, and self-reliance. Worship changes you before the answer comes.

So while you pray—worship. While you wait—worship. Even when circumstances remain unchanged in your life, your family, or your nation—choose to worship God.

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose.– Acts 16:25–26

In Acts 16, Paul and Silas, beaten and imprisoned, chose to pray and sing praises to God. In the middle of their suffering, worship invited God’s power, and everything shifted—not only for them, but for those around them.

Hebrews 13:15 (NIV) encourages us to continually offer a sacrifice of praise, and Psalm 34:1 (ESV) declares,“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

Worship is not denial—it is alignment. It does not ignore reality, but it responds to it with truth. When challenges arise, acknowledge them—but follow up with God’s Word, with thanksgiving, and with praise.

I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. – Psalms 34:1

In doing so, you strengthen your faith and position your heart to remain steady, no matter what you face.
