Queen, Grab Your Sword

In the game of chess, the queen is the most powerful game piece on the board. Unlike other chess pieces, the queen is unlimited and unrestricted, making her power undeniable. She can move onto any unobstructed square and in any direction—forward, backward, or diagonally. She can take over any position on which the opposing piece stands. Her influence on the chessboard is unmatched, so it is important to give her the freedom to reign and fortify protection from enemy forces.

Queens of great kingdoms do not sit in high positions, hoping to hide behind white ivory towers of palatial privilege. They do not shield themselves from the decisions needed to be made to protect their kingdom. They are instead keenly aware of the wars that threaten their throne and its people.

“For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, ”
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 ESV

As queens today, we must stay engaged in the spiritual battle of prayer that overtakes enemy forces that would try to prevail against our families, jobs, communities, and nation.

There is a war raging all around us. It is real. It is a fight for territory and an assault against the soul of humankind. It is an epic battle of good versus evil. And no one, no matter how young or old, is isolated from the impact of its carnage. This battle can be seen in the divisive spirits of politics, media, and entertainment. Its aftermath can be felt by the hatred, immorality, rebellion, and selfishness that has permeated our society.

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. ”
Ephesians 6:11-12 ESV

Being aware of the real battle at hand should be the priority of every woman and every queen on God’s chessboard. It is our responsibility to recognize the influence and power we possess to shift the minds and hearts of those around us, so they come into full submission to God’s higher purposes.

“Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. ”
1 Peter 1:13 ESV

A Warrior Queen is not looking for her crown; she is looking for her sword. Can you think of a time when you knew forces were fighting against you, your family, or business? In moments like that, what is your most significant move as a queen on God’s chessboard?

Prayer: Lord, I choose, now, to raise my sword in faith—ready to advance into whatever it is You are calling me to do as a Warrior Queen for Your Kingdom. I am not afraid. Together, we’ve already won this battle. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
