Our co-host David Woodruff has Jesper Hansen on again today talking sunflowers.

Let’s listen in.

We have not even started sunflowers yet up home. I would assume by next week they’ll probably start being ready and we also got flowers to go down in the Dakotas that I don’t think is ready yet either.

Yeah, they’re kind of a long season crop, aren’t they? It seems to me like.

Yeah, you know we really like to get a good 20 degree night in order to mature nice and even.

That frost will take care of a whole lot of problems for you then.

That’s correct, yeah. Are they any easier to thrash once they get down?

Yeah, once they’re good and ready they go through pretty easy. What we have to watch out is the dust that we don’t create fires on the combine. We have to blow the combines off every second or third round and that’s not much fun.

Yeah, I had a neighbor that raised hemp and he had to stop every round and make sure the manifold was clear or else he had a fire starting to smolder and go. That oilseed dust is terrible.

So other than that you’re not playing with a lot of mechanical problems or anything?

No, not at all. Everything’s been going pretty well. We’re just trying to get wrapped up here and then we’ll start working on equipment probably in a month or so.

We’re grateful for large blessings and small ones in proportion. Appreciate it and boy we sure ask the Lord’s blessings on you and your guys and your equipment and the harvest before that oil dust starts to get to you.

Thank you very much and same to you.

Thank you.
