Hiring; North Platte Police Department

(NORTH PLATTE, Neb.) — The City of North Platte is looking for individuals to join our department as an entry-level or lateral entry Police Officer.

The North Platte Police Department is a Professional Law Enforcement Organization that believes in continuing education and training. The North Platte Police Department is a stable and secure work environment.  The salary range is $25.38-$35.99 per hour.

Nebraska Certified Police Officers may lateral into the North Platte Police Department. Prior years of service with another Nebraska law enforcement agency are counted when determining benefit accruals, such as vacation, as well as promotional opportunities.  Starting salary is $29.92 per hour.  Additional benefits include a $10,000 sign on bonus, 80 hours of vacation, and 80 hours of sick leave.

For Non-Nebraska Certified applicants, starting salary is $25.38 per hour.  Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen, 21 years of age, with no felony convictions.  Additional benefits include a $7,500 bonus upon graduation from the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center and successful completion of the probationary period.

All applicants must be able to obtain a valid Nebraska Driver’s License.

Successful applicants with an AA degree or higher receive an additional $2,000 bonus and a two-step advancement on the pay scale upon successful completion of the probationary period.  In addition, those holding a bachelor’s degree or higher receive $60.00 monthly.

Police Officers may live up to 25 miles from North Platte.

Job requirements: High School graduate or G.E.D., at least 21 years of age, able to pass physical testing as required by NLETC, written exam, oral interview, extensive background check and psychological examination.

Officers certified in Nebraska will be granted lateral entry upon completion of FTO program. Candidates certified in other states will be granted lateral entry upon successful completion of NLETC’s requirements for reciprocity certification and FTO.

Our staff enjoys a competitive wage and benefit package with base starting hourly wage of $24.76 for entry level officers and up to $32.62 for lateral entry.
