Yes, He Knows by Angus Buchan
He knows!
We say that we have been rejected. He knows exactly how we feel because all of His trusted disciples ran away and left Him completely alone!
And they all left Him and fled.
Mark 14:50
The disciples were all disillusioned after Jesus was crucified. They returned to their previous life and were fishing on the lake. Their visions and dreams had been crushed.
Jesus went out from there and *came into His hometown; and His disciples *followed Him. When the Sabbath came, He began to teach in the synagogue; and the many listeners were astonished, saying, “Where did this man get these things, and what is this wisdom given to Him, and such miracles as these performed by His hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? Are not His sisters here with us?” And they took offense at Him. Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and among his own relatives and in his own household.” And He could do no miracle there except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He wondered at their unbelief. And He was going around the villages teaching.
Mark 6:1-6
Jesus wasn’t accepted and loved everywhere He went. The people of His hometown, Nazareth, rejected Him. Still, Jesus carried on doing the work that God had sent Him to do.
When Jesus taught that He is the bread of life, many turned away.
But Jesus, conscious that His disciples grumbled at this, said to them, “Does this cause you to stumble? What then if you see the Son of Man ascending to where He was before? It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life. But there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who it was that would betray Him. And He was saying, “For this reason I have said to you, that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted him from the Father.” As a result of this many of His disciples withdrew and were not walking with Him anymore. So Jesus said to the twelve, “You do not want to go away also, do you?” Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life. We have believed and have come to know that You are the Holy One of God.” Jesus answered them, “Did I Myself not choose you, the twelve, and yet one of you is a devil?” Now He meant Judas the son of Simon Iscariot, for he, one of the twelve, was going to betray Him.
John 6:61-71
We shouldn’t be discouraged when we are met with opposition, even when it is by those closest to us. We need to keep going and complete our God-given task.
Maybe you are in a similar position today and someone has rejected you and let you down. I want to assure you that there is Someone you can trust: Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God! If you trust Him, you have nothing to worry about. No matter who has let you down or rejected you in your life, Jesus will never let you down, never reject you, and neither will His eternal Word.
“Lord God, I have been let down and rejected by so many people in my life. Thank You that You will never reject me. I am so grateful that I can rest in Your Word. Amen.”
