Prayer Plant for the family of Kevin Wynne (1960-2023)

We are saddened by the news from Banner County Monday morning. We have several in the Scanner Community that this affected and we wish to show our sympathy by publishing Kevin’s obituary and by delivering a memorable Prayer Plant to the family on behalf of Scotts Bluff County Scanner. If anyone would like to sign the card, please see Jen downtown at J&S Bloomin Co before Friday afternoon.

Kevin Leon Wynne, 62 of Harrisburg Nebraska, passed away on April 3, 2023. He was born to Bruce and Janice (Cross) Wynne on June 5, 1960 in Kimball Nebraska. He was the oldest of three siblings, growing up on the family farm in Banner County. He graduated from Banner County High School in 1978.

After graduation he pursued his love of heavy equipment operations and was a very skilled operator, working in Arizona, Colorado, Nebraska, North Dakota, Wyoming, Arkansas and Iowa. His love of farming never left him, however and he was most recently employed by Charles and Laif Anderson from Banner County. He was a self-taught mechanic as well as a master welder, creating both functional and artistic works of art throughout his life. If the sun was shining, or actually any kind of weather, you could find him riding on his Indian motorcycle. He looked forward to his annual trips to Sturgis where he had established a large circle of friends.

We know he accepted Christ in his life at an early age, and we are so thankful for eternal security. Although he did not walk closely with the Lord, the Lord was always with him and showed him grace as He does with all believers.

He was a father of three: Garrett (Megan) Wynne of Bayard, Stevie (Brad) Vakilzadeh and Jordan Wynne of Oklahoma and grandfather to seven grandkids Kelsei, Mahleigha, Keirra, Kace, Jacob, Kiih, and Beckett. He is also survived by his mother Janice Wynne of Banner County, sisters Roxie (Brad) Shaul and Lana (Troy) Greene all of Gering, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Leon and Agnes Wynne, and maternal grandparents Harvey and Coral Cross and his father Bruce Wynne.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023 at 10:00 am at Gering Memorial Chapel with Pastor Brad Kihlthau officiating. Burial will follow at Gabe Rock Cemetery, rural Harrisburg.

A memorial will be designated by the family at a later date. Fond memories and condolences may be left at www.geringchapel.com for the Wynne family.
