How we handle Missing Persons cases

If you are missing a loved one, please contact us directly. We do not post any missing until we have direct contact with the next of kin, accompanied by a request for our help. The only exception to that is a request from law enforcement. If the police are asking for help, we confirm they are still missing, then make a poster and circulate it widely.

Chances are increasing across the area for widespread heavy rainfall. Marginal Risks for excessive rainfall will continue Thursday, spreading east Friday into the Nebraska panhandle.

Saturday could be quite wet as a Slight Risk area has been identified for much of southeast Wyoming and the entire Nebraska Panhandle. This excessive rainfall could lead to flash flooding for some areas, especially those areas that have recently received substantial rainfall.

If out and about and you encounter flooded roads, you may not want to drive through. The roads could be washed out under the flooded waters.

2023 National Pony Express

They’re off! The National Pony Express Association is having their annual Pony Express Re-Ride and the first riders departed Old Sacramento at 2pm. Here is a photo of them passing by our museum. The next stop is Folsom as they traverse the Pony Express trail and will end at St. Joseph, Missouri.

One week from today; on Wednesday, June 14th; the annual Pony Express Re-Ride will pass through Scotts Bluff National Monument.

Stop by for volunteer Jerry Lucas’ short talk about the iconic mail transportation system and stay to watch the riders exchange the mochila: the saddlebag filled with letters.

The talk will start at 4 p.m. and the rider is scheduled to arrive at approximately 4:45. Just be aware that the rider’s arrival may be delayed due to weather or other circumstances. Follow their progress at: https://nationalponyexpress.org/re-ride/follow-the-ride/
