Starlink Tracker

Update via Live Storm Chasers

It was a beautiful evening for this SpaceX Starlink 6-18 launch last night. The weather was clear, the stifling humidity was absent, and temps were in the upper 60’s. The tropical moisture returns today, but it was a nice break. I thoroughly enjoyed being out for this one because sometimes it’s just miserable.

This also was an astounding 17th flight for Booster B1060 which makes it the second one to ever reach that many flights.

Congrats to the entire SpaceX team for making spaceflight, and reusable boosters, seem so easy when it’s obviously not.

Wyoming Hazmat Incident

***UPDATE***
The road is now open. Emergency crews are continuing to assess the situation at the plant. They do not believe the road will need to be shut down again. Enjoy your Sunday morning and as always, buckle up.

***Road Closure Happy Jack Rd (WY210)*** Cheyenne

Out of an abundance of safety, Happy Jack Rd (WY210) is closed from mile markers 3 to 8, in both directions.

Currently, hazmat crews are working on a possible chlorine leak at the water treatment plant. The Wyoming Highway Patrol is assisting by shutting down WY210.

At this time the leak is believed to be contained, and not a threat to the public in the area. We will update you as soon as we know how long hazmat crews will want the road shut down. If you plan on traveling through the area, please plan on an alternate route.

Child Passenger Safety

Scottsbluff Police Department Reminds Parents and Caregivers to Keep Kids Safe Every year, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) partners with local communities to hold Child Passenger Safety Week.

NHTSA’s mission is to save lives on our nation’s roads, and it starts with our youngest passengers. Child Passenger Safety Week, which always ends with National Seat Check Saturday, exists to increase awareness for parents and caregivers about the importance of correctly buckling kids in the right seats for their age and size.

We want this awareness to remain year-round.

Scanner Traffic

Despite the encryption by Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Department, Scottsbluff and Gering Police and Fire Departments, the  ‘Scanner page’ viewship is actually UP quite a bit. The agencies went encrypted May 21, 2023.

As many have noticed, we have expanded our coverage to include much of WyoBraska (Eastern Wyoming + Western Nebraska) with scanner pages and partners throughout the two states.

Big Horn Sheep Sightings

If you happen to spot bighorn sheep while visiting Scotts Bluff National Monument, please stop by the visitor center to report your sighting.

Monument staff are currently working with researchers from the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission to inform them about the number and frequency of sheep sightings in the monument.

Most recently, bighorn sheep were observed at Scotts Bluff National Monument on September 9th.

Scotts Bluff County CERT

The Scotts Bluff County CERT/SAR Team will be hosting a basic CERT training, October 27 & 28. Friday night training starts at 6:00 pm till 10:00. Saturday training is from 7:30am – 6:30. Lunch and supper is provided on Saturday. The cost is free and it will allow you to take care of yourself, family, & neighbors in the event of an emergency.

Training covers:
Disaster Preparedness
Fire Safety
Light Search and Rescue
Damage Assessment
First Aid – Stop the Bleed
CERT Team Organization
Disaster Psychology
Disaster Drill

This training is to help get our team membership back up, we would like to see 20 citizens take this training and then join the team. We need a minimum of 10 people to hold the class.
