UPDATE : Standoff ended at 5:12 pm Wednesday. More details to come.
A tragic situation is unfolding in Sheridan Wyoming today as the community is learning of the shooting death of Sheridan officer Sergeant Nevada Krinkee.
Sergeant Krinkee was killed in the line of duty when he was responding to a trespass call in the area of Fifth Street and Val Vista.
Police and crisis negotiators were not able to get the suspect to surrender, and a standoff ensued. We believe it is still ongoing.

National scanner traffic indicates that the Sheridan scanner has been sitting at number 1 for over 24 hours.

This photo from The Sheridan Press shows preparation for the ongoing standoff.

Sheridan, Wyoming is a special town for a lot of reasons. One of those at the top of the list is its remarkable Law Enforcement Officers. Guardians, protectors, defenders in every sense of the word.
One of those officers has not just answered the called to be a protector here at home in Sheridan, but also as a combat veteran in the U.S. Army prior to becoming a police officer. He’s the father to a six month old and the husband to an amazing wife.
Police Sergeant Nevada Krinkee was killed in the line of duty while selflessly serving the community of Sheridan and state of Wyoming yesterday.
We ask that you keep Nevada, his family, and the officers of the Sheridan Police Department in your thoughts.
We will update folks through our social media channels and in the coffee shop on how they can help.
Rest in peace, Officer Krinkee

This situation is still ongoing as of 3:30 pm on Wednesday.
