Who Failed Baby Gideon?

Who failed Baby Gideon? Who will be to blame for failing the next dead child? Another family mourns a life too soon taken. Will we ever know why the little one-year-old suddenly, according to his caretaker, started spewing blood from his mouth at the end of a 45 minute bath?

Was this a bath drawn by a loving man out of concern for a baby with an upset tummy? 31-year-old Tyler Green told officers that Gideon had diarrhea and “made mess on the floor and walls.”

This is a gruesome thing I am writing, but I will continue. Reading it or not is up to you.

One point to make, officers on scene later take note of no mess on the floor or walls, no water in the tub, and only blood around the child’s mouth, along with a large contusion on the left side of his head.

Doctors would later report the baby’s body temperature at 82 degrees. Was that because the child sat in the tub alone off and on while Tyler Green admittedly left him several times to go outside and smoke? It was after returning from one of those smoking trips that he said he found Gideon “coughing up blood.”

And his timeline to police goes like this:
He says he and Kaci Lockwood (Gideon’s mom) put the kids to bed sometime around 7:30-8 pm. He (Tyler Green) smelled dirty diapers (a mess) around 8:15 pm. Then he claims to have given Gideon a bath for 45 minutes while Kaci slept (which by that timeline would have been until 9 pm). Yet the police report indicates the police did not arrive until 12:45 am.

Later at the hospital once Gideon is in medical care, doctors discover bruising and lacerations to Gideon’s genital area. A CT scan is done as well as a blood transfusion: 10 cc’s of blood, found in his tummy. Gideon is sent to Colorado Children’s Hospital in Aurora with several life threatening injuries. One doctor says, “The amount of injury to Gideon would be on par to having the child put in a clothes dryer and it turned on.”

WHO is mom?

Kaci Lockwood is Gideon’s mom. She shows up in court records with alcohol issues (DUI, second offense, 1994). An ex husband states in documents she is an “alcoholic”.
She filed a protection order against a former boyfriend in 2020, and she is party to a court case involving the father of her child Gideon, Adric Blanco, who is in jail on charges of false imprisonment, Domestic Violence Assault, terroristic threats, and 2nd degree trespassing (all involving Kaci Lockwood). His pretrial is set for April 10, 2024. He was in jail when his son, Gideon, passed away March 16, 2024. Adric’s family was able to be with his son at his passing. They shared the journey through their faith and grief, on social media.

I’m told Adric was granted the opportunity to see his son via phone/telecommunication, but I have not verified that.

Kaci Lockwood shows up in court records for a paternity case for one child born in 2018, and two divorce cases. She also is subject to an ex parte order granted by a judge immediately after her child, Gideon, was reported injured.

Jordan Lockwood and Kaci Lockwood divorced in 2018. As recent as last week they shared joint legal and physical custody of two children. In December 2023, Jordan Lockwood obtained a protection order against Adric Blanco to keep his children from him. The new ex parte order (obtained March 13, 2024) gives Jordan Lockwood full custody of the children until the circumstances of Gideon’s abuse and subsequent death are sorted out.

For now, no charges have been filed against the mother of Gideon Lockwood for the abuse he succumbed to.

31-year-old Tyler Green has been charged with knowing and intentional child abuse resulting in serious injury after an investigation by Gering Police. Court records do not indicate that anything has changed on charges against Tyler Green since the one-year-old in his care died.

Tyler Green’s preliminary hearing is set for March 28, 2024 at 10 am in the Scotts Bluff County Court. There will also be a bond review of the 10% of $1 million, and discussion surrounding contact with his own children.
