(GERING, Neb.) — The annual Hipcamp Awards celebrate the top-performing Hipcamp Hosts and their properties—those that provide magical experiences for Hipcampers time and time again. Winners are selected based on an active status, a 95% or higher recommendation rate, and have 3 or more completed bookings in 2023. Then they calculate standings based on reviews and ratings.
Peaceful Prairie Campsite has won the Best In State award for the second year in a row. Frank Marquez and Lisa Betz-Marquez are the owners and hosts of the campsite located in southwest Gering in the shadow of Dome Rock near Five Rocks Ampitheater.

So tickled to receive the Best Campsite in Nebraska designation from Hipcamp for 2024! Frank and I make a great team. We are also very pleased to share that our partnership with A&A Porta Potties is exceptional, with many reviewers specifically mentioning that our facilities are the cleanest portable potty they’ve ever used. I also want to thank Al Sauter for his excellent services in property care.

Peaceful Prairie Campsites at Rose Hill consists of 200+ acres of prairie pasture bordering the south side of Scotts Bluff National Monument. Under the care of husband and wife team Frank Marquez and Lisa Betz-Marquez, the beautiful bluffs feature a rosy hue that glows on the hills at dawn and dusk.
Prairie guests have relished the feeling of having the place to themselves to enjoy the majesty of the landscape, the magic of our starry night skies, and the delicious drinking water that comes from an aquifer deep underground.
Their guests have left glowing reviews. Here are just a few.
If you’re going out to see the Bluff, the canyon site is the place to camp. You’ll get a cozy hangout spot, beautiful starry skies, and a place to pitch your tent out of the wind. I was alone, but it’d be great to stay here with a group as well. I’ll be back next time I’m in the area.

Tranquil spot. The hostess met us at the gate and provided us with helpful information. The portapotty was the cleanest I have ever used. It smelled nice! Beautiful views of the bluff. An added bonus, sweet Trigger the horse.

Lisa is the fourth generation of her family to live on Valley View Farm, located directly south of the prairie. Her family has been steward of these lands since 1925. Lisa is a member of a pioneer family. Ancestor, Martin Gering, came to the valley in 1887. As an early investor in the fledgling town, the town of Gering was named for him. If you’re a history buff, ask Lisa to tell you more…
Congratulations Lisa and Frank! We highly suggest booking Peaceful Prairie Campsites the next time you are in the Scottsbluff area. If you have family or friends looking for a different overnight experience send them here.
