Liquor Store Shooting

(CHADRON, Neb.) — On Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at approximately 5:29 p.m., the Chadron Police Department was called to City’s Liquors located at 319 Beech Street in reference to the building possibly being shot by a firearm.

Officers of the Chadron Police Department arrived on scene and began an investigation. During the investigation, two bullet holes were discovered in the west wall of the building. The reporting person advised that the incident likely happened at around 4:30P.M. in the afternoon when the reporting person heard a couple of popping noises but did not know exactly what it was. The reporting person looked into the causes of the popping noise further and located a hole in the interior of the building.

The investigating officers were able to obtain video evidence during the time of the incident from the business. In reviewing the video, officers located a white four-door sedan with South Dakota license plates acting suspicious in the parking lot and then leaving the parking lot and head west on Highway 20 just prior to the time the shots reportedly took place.

The Chadron Police Department is currently looking for a white four-door sedan and working with other law enforcement agencies to identify and locate the vehicle of interest.

At this time, the Chadron Police Department believes this was an isolated and random incident. No other homes or businesses were involved and we do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community, but would like to remind everyone that if they see something suspicious or out of place, to contact the Chadron Communication Center and report it so that a law enforcement officer can look into it.
