Do you know how to spot child abuse or neglect? Although this is by no means an exhaustive list, knowing the signs of a child who may be a victim of abuse is key to ensuring their safety.

Potential Signs of Abuse

  • Changes in behavior – such as aggression, anger, hostility, or hyperactivity – or changes in school performance
  • Sexual behavior or knowledge that’s inappropriate for the child’s age
  • Injuries that don’t match the given explanation
  • Inappropriate sexual behavior with other children
  • Frequent absences from school
  • Poor personal cleanliness
  • Hoarding or stealing food
