(GRANDFIELD, Okla.) — Tornado season is just ramping up, and conditions are already very peculiar. Here is information from our favorite tornado scientist on a twister three and a half miles tall.
From Reed Timmer
“The monster tornado last night northwest of Grandfield, Oklahoma appeared to have tornado cyclone structure all the way to above 18,000 feet AGL as estimated by radar donut hole.
The Linwood, KS EF4 tornado we sampled by rocket launch appeared to have tornado cyclone structure up above 12,000 feet AGL.
This is an incredibly powerful tornado last night in SW OK, and thankfully it was over unpopulated terrain.”
