A terrible situation at a campground during Wurst Tag in Eustis Saturday, June 8th.

I am waiting to visit with Sheriff Michael Jordan of the Frontier County Sheriff’s Office for facts he may share. In the meantime, I will share what witnesses have told me.

Campers by the ball field witnessed a pickup truck strike a tent by the creek. Several people were in the tent, but one woman was hit by the truck. People on scene started lifesaving measures while they waited for the responders and law enforcement.

Sadly, the people driving the truck fled the scene, leaving the pickup behind. Witnesses say law enforcement used drones with thermal imaging to search for the suspects.

There is no word on the condition of the woman struck by the vehicle, nor on the apprehension of those driving the pickup.

Prayers for everyone affected by this terrible situation. I will update if possible. Thank you to those who helped, including responders and law enforcement.
