At the request of Nebraska State Patrol, McCook officers attempted to assist with a tire deflation device as the pursuit neared the east edge of McCook. Due to the realitive location of the pursuit and McCook officers being busy on another call, officers were not able to get into a position to safely deploy this device and did not engage in the pursuit. Neither McCook officers were injured. However, one unit opted to drive in the ditch out of an abundance of caution to leave room for the suspect vehicle and pursuing Trooper.
