Lincoln County’s New K9

(NORTH PLATTE, Neb.) – The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is thrilled to welcome our newest staff member! Please say hello to Jax, our Crisis Canine in training.

Jax and his handler Corporal Season Trevino have partnered up with Crisis Canines of the Midlands, a non-profit group from Colfax Iowa.

Crisis Canines of the Midlands trains dogs and their handlers how to provide peer support to First Responders and the general public after a crisis or natural disaster.

During the next year, Corporal Trevino and K9 Jax will undergo extensive training in areas such as peer support, critical incident stress management, and trauma response on multiple levels to prepare them for their week long certification in Iowa.

When not in training, our K9 Team will be providing victim support, assisting with criminal investigation interviews, and working with community outreach programs here in Lincoln County.

If you see Corporal Trevino and K9 Jax out and about on patrol please stop and say hello! Jax likes head scratches and belly rubs!
