Child Abuse Arrest

(KIMBALL, Neb.) – ***PRESS RELEASE***

-Arrest made following child abuse investigation-

On 08/02/2024, at approximately 08:26 AM, Officers of the Kimball Police Department received a report from the Department of Health and Human Services, which reported a local daycare facility employee had allegedly abused and left marks on a 4y/o boy.

Officers proceeded to conduct a thorough investigation into the report. During the investigation, it was discovered that the incident in question took place on 07/29/2024, and the suspect was fired from her position. Evidence of child abuse was also discovered.

Ylia Morales (68) was arrested and charged with felony child abuse.

We take allegations of this nature very seriously and will continue to work with our community to protect our most vulnerable members.

Last night, Scanner traffic indicated in Gering near Ponderosa Drive, a third party from Colorado had requested a welfare check on her sister in reference to the statements that she made. The female was barricaded in the basement and possibly armed. No further traffic was heard on that incident, so stay tuned today to Panhandle Scanner for a follow-up on that story. With the drought conditions in Nebraska, any amount of rainfall could cause flash flooding due to the hardness of the ground. Avoid low-lying areas and do not drive through flooded roads.
