(COLUMBUS, Neb.) – On August 24, 2024, at approximately 2:00 AM, deputies responded to a campground located at 3518 S. 9th St. for a report of an individual identified as Jaydn Rother, 20 from Columbus, who was suffering from a cut to her upper arm. The first deputy to arrive on scene was able to apply a tourniquet to stop the bleeding until rescue could arrive.
The investigation indicated the injury suffered by Rother was caused by a female juvenile. The juvenile, who had fled from the scene, was later located in Columbus by members of the Columbus Police Department. Upon locating the juvenile in Columbus, deputies requested Columbus Rescue to check out the juvenile who indicated they were injured and who displayed som physical injuries. After being checked out by rescue personnel, the juvenile was placed under arrest and was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center in Madison. The juvenile has been charged with 1st Degree Assault and Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony.
Duncan Rescue arrived on scene and transported Rother to the Columbus Community Hospital where she was life-flighted to Omaha with critical injuries. As of the time of this release, Rother remains hospitalized in serious condition.
