First Freeze Dates

(CHEYENNE, Neb.) — The National Weather Service out of Cheyenne has put out some interesting freeze data.

While it’s been a warm September so far, a cold front will arrive tonight and set the stage for a fall-like weekend. The typical cold spots across our area have a chance at dropping to freezing Sunday or Monday morning for the first time this season. For details on the forecast, visit weather.gov/cys.

🍂 We are getting close to the time of year when we can typically expect to see freezing temperatures! Laramie has already passed its average first freeze date, but Cheyenne and Scottsbluff have the average freeze occur by the end of the month. However, in some years, this can not occur until the latter part of October! Last year, the first freeze arrived about a week later than average for most of our area.
