No Evacuation Order

(TORRINGTON, Wyo.) — The Torrington Police Department has information about a gas leak message that was not intended for Goshen County.

We have received information from several members of our community that they received an alert, either on their television or on an automated radio announcement, stating that they need to evacuate due to a gas leak. 

This appears to be a message that was shared in error here in Goshen County and appears to be related to an emergency occurring in another location. 

We have not been made aware of a gas leak or any need to evacuate here in Goshen County.

At approximately 4:00PM this afternoon (October 22nd) an emergency alert concerning a gas leak in ALBANY, WY was aired on 98.3 KERM FM. The Civil Authorities issued the Local Area Emergency for Albany, WY, and residents of Goshen County should disregard this alert.

At times, you may hear emergency alerts on our stations that are from outside of the listening area – so please listen carefully when these alerts are aired.
