Missing; Michelle Elbow Shield

(RAPID CITY, SD) – Local and federal officials are asking for the public’s help in locating Michelle “Shelly” Elbow Shield.

Numerous leads have been pursued in the investigation, and the RCPD’s partnership with the BIA’s Missing and Murdered Unit has further extended the collaborative resources used to investigate Elbow Shield’s disappearance.

The BIA’s Missing and Murdered Unit has secured $5,000 to offer as a reward for information that results in Elbow Shield’s location, and/or the identification, arrest, and conviction of the person(s) responsible for her disappearance.

“So we’re coming up on the year anniversary when Michelle Elbow Shield was believed to have gone missing. On September 27, 2023, she was last seen. It’s been a year, our investigation, we’ve been following up on a ton of resources and a ton of leads working throughout the past year trying to locate her,” Criminal Investigations Division Captain Christian Sigel said.

“We know somebody out there knows what happened to Michelle,” says Sigel. “We are extremely grateful for the partnership with the BIA’s Missing and Murdered Unit, and we are confident their reward will help encourage those with information on her disappearance to come forward and help us work to locate her.”

Michelle has light brown eyes and brown hair. She is 4′ 10″ and weighs approximately 100 pounds. Michelle also has tattoos, one is a butterfly on her left ankle, an infinity symbol on her left arm with the names Michelle and Cody Red Wing and a heart with devil horns behind her right ear. Michelle was last seen wearing a black, blue and gray sweater and black jeans.
