(SIDNEY, Neb.) – An investigation is currently in progress in a shooting death south of Sidney.
On Tuesday at 10:09 am, Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call of shots fired at a rural residence. According to the emergency comm center, a father was shot by his son.

The mother initiated CPR and medical personnel took over attempting to revive the victim for almost an hour. According to scanner traffic, EMS pronounced the victim deceased at 11:09 a.m.
Initial investigation suggests the shooting was in self defense. No one is in custody at this time.
An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
The Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office, Nebraska State Patrol, Sidney Volunteer Fire Department, Sidney Regional Medical Center Ambulance Emergency Medical Services and Regional West Medical Center AirLink responded to the scene.
