Mitchell Barn Fire

(MITCHELL, Neb.) — On January 19, 2025, the Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department responded to an early afternoon barn fire just north of town near the cross intersections of CR 13 & CR B just after 2:30PM MDT. Mutual aid was requested from Morrill Nebraska Volunteer Fire Department.

Upon arriving on scene, firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire without incident, although ice accumulation and freezing temps were a challenge. While battling the blaze, Mitchell and Morrill VFD utilized a total of 10 trucks on scene and several personnel.
