Life-Threatening Assault

(SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb.) — Scanner traffic was heavy last night as law enforcement were searching for two different stolen vehicles.

Scottsbluff Police Department posted more details to clarify the situation.

Scottsbluff Police Department is actively investigating a serious assault that occurred on 1-20-25 at approximately 10:25 pm.  The assault is believed to have occurred in the area of 5th Avenue and East Overland and left a 15-year-old juvenile with a life threatening, penetrating wound to the chest.  Anyone with security camera footage in that area is encouraged to contact the Scottsbluff Police Department 308-632-7176.  The name of the victim will not be released at this time.

Additionally, the Scottsbluff Police Department is aware of a vehicle pursuit led by the Nebraska State Patrol that occurred around this same time, and in this same area as the assault. The Department is investigating the possibility that the two incidents are related.  Please refer to the Nebraska State Patrol for further information about information relating to the pursuit.

Lastly, Scottsbluff Police Department is aware of a video circulating on Facebook showing a foot pursuit around the time of this incident.  The suspect involved in the foot pursuit is not the same person as the victim from the assault, and sustained minor injuries during his apprehension.  The suspect in the foot pursuit was a juvenile, and was transported to RWMC for medical treatment and released to the Nebraska State Patrol for admittance to a juvenile detention facility on pending charges related to the vehicle pursuit.

Our original traffic on this incident is shown below.

** Stolen Vehicle High Speed Chase **
PRAYERS NEEDED PLEASE – see below
—-
We have a high-speed chase going on in Scottsbluff right now. Mercury Mariner that was stolen is being pursued by Troopers right now.

Eastbound on 27th Street right now, please stay out of the way!

Southbound on 4th Avenue.

Crashed out, one runner, 14th Street, Orange hoodie on foot.

One subject is now 10-15 (in custody) rear passenger.

Front passenger fled South in a gray hoodie. Driver fled in an orange hoodie. It’s time to catch those hoodies. If you see someone running or suspicious please call it in immediately.

Our on-scene team (Scottsbluff-1 & Scottsbluff-2) is reporting the arrest of the driver in the orange hoodie after taser deployment by the Scottsbluff Police Department.

Crashed out vehicle struck a tree and has front end damage and a flat tire.

An ambulance has been called for the subject who was tazed.

Officer on-scene has canceled the response for medical.

Be on the lookout for the passenger that was wearing a gray hoodie and took off from the scene.

Sounds like they are still taking a look at the tazed driver to make sure that he is medically cleared. Meanwhile, NSP believes SBPD has the other passenger in custody as well. That should make all three captured.

Another Trooper came on asking for the juvenile detention officer.

** Prayers Needed **
Scanner traffic is very busy tonight and we need your prayers. We have an unconfirmed report, but very solid as it did come across scanner traffic, that the third juvenile who ran, is now code blue. Please pray hard for the recovery of this juvenile. (unsure of age as traffic just said ‘juvenile’) Further traffic confirmed that they arrived at the hospital with the code blue male teen. This is so sad. Please pray for everyone involved. No one wants these things to happen. 🙏
