I-80 Semi Rollover

(CHAPPELL, Neb.) — An accident on I-80 caused one westbound lane to be closed around 9 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025. We posted the initial traffic on our Facebook page.

Scanner traffic indicated a Semi Rollover at mile marker 96 on I-80. Please use caution in the area and pray for those involved. Unknown injuries. NSP enroute. County Sheriff is in court today, so he will not be able to respond.

Nebraska 511 tweeted a screenshot of the crash site.

Further scanner traffic revealed that the semi driver called a tow company directly, but dispatch said they needed to verify that. The trooper then replied that the patient had already been transported to Gothenburg Hospital, but he would try to make a call.

At approximately 12:00 p.m., a brief report from a State Trooper was transmitted as well;

Vehicle 1 was eastbound on I-80, drove into the median and crossed entire lanes. It then overcorrected hitting the semi. There are reported to be over $100,000 in damages. Restraints were in use and no airbags were deployed.
