Snowplows Pulled; Road Closures

UPDATE : MORE ROAD CLOSURES ARE COMING IN….

🚨Interstate 80 is CLOSED between Grand Island and Lincoln because of multiple crashes and blizzard conditions.

Do not attempt to travel in blizzard conditions. Find a safe place to park for the night.

(SAUNDERS COUNTY, Neb.) — Due to current white-out conditions,  Nebraska Department of Roads snowplows are pulling their plows off the highways, at least in the Saunders County area.

The white-out conditions, snow covered roads and accidents, also played a part in the decision to close down some highways as well.

I-80 has been closed between Exit 312: US 34; Grand Island; Hastings and MM 333 (Aurora), due to crashes.

According to the 511 map below, many Nebraska roads in the eastern part of the state are now completely covered, which could lead to further closures. The Nebraska State Patrol, The Nebraska Department of Roads and Panhandle Scanner are all recommending NO TRAVEL at this time, due to whiteout conditions.

If they are pulling the plows, you cannot trust that law enforcement or emergency crews likely won’t even get to you in an emergency. Please don’t risk it.

As of 7:40 pm cst on Tuesday, snowplows can still be seen out on the roads via the PLOW TRACKER.

TRAVEL IS NOT ADVISED AS RESPONDERS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET TO YOU!
