** IMPORTANT Update on MADISON **

** BREAKING – MADISON FOUND SAFE **
(NORFOLK, Neb.) — An official with the Norfolk Nebraska Police Division has confirmed with Panhandle Scanner that Madison Gompert is safe in Norfolk and no longer missing.
In fact, she may have never actually been ‘officially’ missing, and certainly not kidnapped.
Madison was originally reported as being taken by a guy that had a restraining order or protection order against him. Evidently that was not true. After being reported missing for less than a day, Madison made contact with authorities.
According to Norfolk PD, Madison contacted them asking about her legal options. She wanted to let them know she was safe. Officers went to the address in Norfolk and confirmed that she was safe and not under coercion, as well as uninjured. They found her safe and not under duress.
If an 18-year-old from Nebraska runs away, legally speaking, they are not considered a runaway in the traditional sense even though Nebraska considers 19 as legal age. Regardless of the conflict the court system does not pursue 18 year olds as missing unless they are considered in danger or other circumstances exist.
We appreciate the cooperation of the Norfolk Police Department in making sure that the correct information is given to the public in a timely manner. We are told they are working on a press release for this case, hopefully.
When thanked for their cooperation, they responded, “Yes sir, we are all just happy this is the situation and not what it was made out to be.”
This was not an abduction. Madison is safe, however there is more to this story because a protection order was supposedly set to go to the judge on the 28th, but we cannot confirm that, and believe it would not be granted at this point.

UPDATE : Information on Protection Order in comments from Midwest Melanie.
Added from court records (thank you Mid-Nebraska Scanner)
The following is all based PURELY off of District Court Records in Boone County.
A protection order was never issued, it was set for a show cause hearing. There is no active / temporary protection order in place.
Some additional information from the protection order affidavit. Her dad (Josh Gompert) filed the protection order so this is his writing in the Petition & Affidavit for a Domestic Abuse Protection Order.
“My daughter is a senior in high school. It came to my attention through reading her text messages and snapchat that her 20 year old boyfriend, Kegan Hackerott, has a plan to pack up her stuff and take her right after the graduation ceremony. Told her he bought her a ring, a phone and is working on getting her a car. He has been slowly grooming & alienating her from her family by telling her that we are horrible parents and calling us bad names. Tells her that his family loves her more than ours. He is very controlling. He wears womens underwear and makes her wear the same color. He is constanly asking for nudes. He has a fake ID & has been procurring alcohol for minors. He picked up a Plan B medication and delivered it to her at school. He mentions rape in text messages. Text messages range from approximately a year & a half ago.”
This protection order is scheduled for hearing on May 28, 2025 at 11:30 AM in Boone County District Courtroom 1. Additionally, Hackerott is said to abuse alcohol and regularly carry “guns for hunting” in his vehicle. Hackerott has been requested to avoid Madison’s house and Boone Central High School. Kegan is represented by George Moyer from Moyer & Moyer in Madison, and the subpoenaed Madison to appear as a witness. The Gompert family is represented by Katherine Sharp from Jarecki Sharp & Petersen in Albion.

UPDATE : Until we hear directly from the parents, we will not assume that Madison is safe. We are still treating her as a missing person. She could be labeled as a runaway, but in either case, she is not back home.
This just came in from a person who works with the Norfolk Nebraska Police Division, “That girl isn’t missing. Her parents lied to police and she called the police department to show that she’s okay. She isn’t legally obligated to be at her parents house. Her parents just don’t like her boyfriend.”
What will the court do on the 28th for the hearing on the protection order?
So many questions remain. To us, this is no closed case. We are going to stay on it until we find out she is safe.

UPDATE : Antelope County News is reporting that Madison Gompert is NO LONGER LISTED AS MISSING, according to the Nebraska State Patrol website. There could be several possible reasons why she is no longer listed as missing; 1) They feel she is NOT in Danger 2) She was NOT abducted 3) They found her, therefore she is no longer missing. We will continue to pray for the best possible outcome in this, regardless of what the reason is that she is suddenly no longer listed as missing, despite being listed earlier this morning.

UPDATE : WHY did the Nebraska State Patrol suddenly REMOVE their listing for Madison from their website?
