** 5 TEENS IN A HIGH SPEED PURSUIT **
Five 13-14 y/o Teens w/ Alcohol & Drugs
(SEWARD, Neb.) — Early Monday morning just before 3:00 a.m., an SUV was observed traveling in excess of 100 mph on Interstate 80.
A York County deputy caught up and attempted a traffic stop when the SUV accelerated.
The deputy continued to pursue the vehicle into Seward County on Interstate 80 until a Seward County deputy was able to successfully spike the SUV’s tires.
The pursuit came to an end on Highway 15 approximately 3 miles south of the 379 interchange. Five juveniles, ranging from 13-14 years old, exited the vehicle and were detained without further incident.
The vehicle was later reported stolen by the registered owner.
3 of the 5 juveniles were transported to the Madison Detention Center. The juveniles were charged with the following charges:
• Theft by receiving stolen property $5,000+
• Speeding 36 mph+
• Flight to avoid arrest
• Willful reckless driving
• Minor in possession of alcohol
• Poss of an open alcohol container
• Poss of marijuana over 1 oz, less than 1 lb
• Tampering with physical evidence
• Various other traffic violations
The York County Sheriff’s Office, Seward County Sheriff’s Office, the Seward Police Department, and the Nebraska State Patrol assisted in this pursuit.
