James Murray

January 21, 1968 – August 14, 2025

Jim had touched many lives in his 57 years. He enjoyed heavy metal music, had a civil servant’s heart and adored his son. He is described as someone who had a zest for life. We have gathered just a few tributes here.

The Banner County Vol. Fire & Rescue posted this condolence, “Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jim Murray’s family, friends, and everyone who had the pleasure of working with Jim over the years. Rest easy Brother…we will take it from here.”

WNCC EMS Program called Jim a “truly selfless man who taught many of us what it meant to be a true public servant.”

Scottsbluff Rural Fire posted “We will honor his memory by continuing to serve with the same passion and integrity that he exemplified during every call”

Jim Murray you were one of the kindest souls that I was blessed to have in my life. You had a charm like no other and never passed up an opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest. Rest easy my friend and watch over us.” ~ Tiffany Brandolino Howton

“All you ever wanted was to help people and be a good dad. You did both in spectacular fashion, Jim Murray. Rest well, my friend. We’ve got it from here.” ~ Mark McCarth

“Rest easy, “Uncle Jim”. Thank you for loving some of my favorite people too!” ~ Christie Medearis Hoffman

Both the Panhandle Post and the Star Herald reported on a recent incident involving Mr. Murray. On August 1, Mr. Murray had an accident with his newly purchased Ford F150 at the intersection of the South Beltline Highway and 21st Avenue at about 9:14 p.m. His truck had left the roadway to the east, traveling through the intersection, colliding with a ditch embankment, and coming to rest on the railroad tracks.

In a report by the Star-Herald, Sheriff Overman is quoted as saying that Murray was cited for DUI in lieu of arrest. He was transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The timeline and details surrounding his death have not been confirmed to the public at this time.

Our prayers are lifted up for the Murray family, friends and everyone who’s life he touched over these years. May you find peace and comfort in this time of loss.
