(GERING, Neb.) — On Friday, August 22, 2025, Trooper Sporer with the Nebraska State Patrol was requested to assist with a reported large house party South East of Gering, which was believed to include minors in possession of alcohol (MIP). Upon arriving at the location, Trooper Sporer observed Deputy Hamilton standing outside his vehicle attempting to stop a blue Honda Accord, and it nearly struck him.
According to affidavits filed in Scotts Bluff County Court, Sporer then activated his light, but the Honda failed to yield. The blue Honda led authorities through a high speed pursuit down County Road 26 and County Road S, making it as far as Carter Canyon Road near County Road 19. During the pursuit, authorities terminated and resumed the chase multiple times in order to prevent the chase from escalating to something deadly.
Trooper Sporer clocked the vehicle traveling 99 mph in a 55 mph zone on Carter Canyon Road. He initiated a traffic stop and the Blue Honda pulled over. The driver was identified as Gianna R. Gonzales (19) and two juvenile passengers Zeyda L. Gonzales (16) and Ava Hernandez (17). Gianna admitted to leaving the residence of the house party and fleeing to avoid trouble. The driver also admitted to drinking that night and pulled out two open containers of alcohol from her pants pocket.
Trooper Sporer administered a standardized field sobriety test, which yielded a result of .104 BAC. He then transported Gianna to Regional West Medical Center for chemical testing. Gianna was then transported to Scotts Bluff Detention Center and remanded into their custody.
